This is my second time forging the camper knife (fourth to attend activity at this forge). There is always something new to learn and achieve. Thank you, Sensei!

刀にハマっている息子とお邪魔しました。とても詳しく丁寧な説明で、事前に本でいろいろ調べていた子どもも大満足でした。素人の質問にも快くたくさん答えていただき、本当にありがとうございました。
納得いく刃文の小刀を作ることができ、息子は感動していました。

先生の人柄も良く、楽しく貴重な時間を過ごさせていただきました。
大切な思い出のひとつとなりました。

鍛冶場の置かれているところも素敵です。
刀鍛冶師はとても丁寧に説明や仕上がりして下さり楽しかったです。

The forging experience was a first for me and it was well worth the money, time and journey!
It's in a beautiful location worth a visit and with Nakanishi Sensei teaching us about the art of forging with such a passion, it became a spiritual experience.
From understanding the role light plays in forging, the techniques for hammering the steel to the desired shape, and the clay art to create your unique hamon, it was all amazing!

初めて刀が出来上がるまでの工程を知ることができました。実際に鉄を打つところから体験してみると本当に大変だということがわかりました。
丁寧に説明していただきわかりやすかったです。完成した小刀は綺麗で大事に飾っておきます。ありがとうございました。

We had a great experience working in the forge under the guidance of the swordsmith and made our own knife with the same technique as when making a Katana. Our translator was very nice and attentive.

1. swordsmith explained everything about katanas and then we made two ourselves. We had to heat the fire until the embers struck sparks. We worked the shape. We even crunched it ourselves in water. Finally he engraved the knife. We 4 made two knives, to take home in a beautiful box.

Wonderful experience for the whole family. Great to be in a real working blacksmith shop, above and beyond the standard tourist experience. Also loved having Justin the interpreter there. A highlight of our trip to Japan and we all took home a knife to cherish forever!

家族４人で参加。息子小学生と私で作成し、妻と娘は見学及び周りで虫取りをしてました。息子にふいごを任せ私が叩く役割り、焼入れは息子です。大変貴重な経験ができ子供らも喜んでました。ありがとうございました。家に帰ってからも磨きの作業はひたすら私がやりました。ある程度までの磨きは出来ますが、日本刀の輝きを出すのが如何に大変か知る事が出来ます。まだまだ途中ですが写真を添付します。刃文がもっと見えるまで頑張ります。

体験自体も興味深く、なかなかできない内容でしたが、先生の話がめちゃめちゃ面白くて、パワフル。メリハリも脱線も有り有りな座学と体験でした。
日本刀の知識、楽しみ方、精神性について考えるのはすごく素敵な出会いでした。

最初から最後まで、懇切丁寧に教えながら一緒に銘刀を作って頂けました！！
アクティビティを通り越して、人としての心遣いまで勉強させて頂きました。
間違いなく金額以上のモノ、価値がある時間でした！
息子共々、大変感謝致しております。

The workshop was sensational and one of the most unique activities you can do. The master was very knowledgeable and hands on with teaching. Language was no barrier he speaks better english then he gives himself credit for. Definitely recommend to anyone with an interest in swords, smithing or just looking for something fun to do!

鬼滅の刃　刀鍛冶の里編で興味を持ち、刀鍛冶の体験をしてみたいと思って参加しました。想像以上に難しかったですが、キチンとフォローもしてもらって、滅多に経験できない体験させてもらいました。

It was a really nice experience. It’s like going back 1000 years in Kyoto.

Hiro Sensei was fabulous! Highly recommend if you have a few days in Kyoto to book some time with him! Splash out for a interpreter as well! It's well worth the trip. We had a great day!!
